The Tile Studio
Ceramic and Stone Products for Floors and Walls

Introduction:
Ceramic and stone tile is becoming an increasingly central element in kitchens, baths, and foyers. This revival reflect s the important role tile and stone play in combining cabinetry, floor, and wall into a cohesive expression of personal touch and style. A tasteful arrangement of tile and stone will complete your kitchen and bath by adding character, warmth, balance and proportion.

Types of Tiles:

Field Tile - these are the tiles that dominate the floor and wall space. They are measured in square feet.
Border tile - Also called "Listellos", these tiles usually run horizontally along the wall, and feature decorative ornaments. They are measured in linear feet.
Decorative tile - Special ornamental tiles used to accentuate the field tile or to establish a unique theme or design. They are measured in individual pieces or sets.

Suggestions for Choosing Tile
Rely on you good instincts and personal taste, but also remember to consider the color scheme, theme, and décor that you desire to ultimately achieve. Start by selecting the color of the tile. Next, feel the texture - some tiles are smooth while others are quite rough. Finally, consider the size of the tile, which range from small to very large. Working with our designer will make your selection experience enjoyable, educational and easy. Ask lots of questions and let us guide you through the process.

    5 Steps to Ordering Tile:
  1. Walk around our showroom and browse at your leisure. Take notes about tiles that catch your eye.
  2. Set an appointment to meet with our designer. Bring with you a scale floor plan and, preferably, an elevation drawing of your kitchen or bath. A floor plan is not required if you know the specific amount of tile required for you project.
  3. In case you don't have a drawing and don't know how much tile you need, we'll gladly survey your kitchen or bath fro $50. We will set a time to come to your home to take measurements.
  4. Make your tile selections in the following order: (1) floor tile, (2) wall tile, and lastly, (3) decorative and border pieces. If you do not have a pattern design, our designer will gladly crate one for you for a flat fee of $100. For this, we would need from you a floor plan and elevation drawings. Your design will be ready within three business days, at which time you will meet with us to review it and finalize your tile selections.
  5. Place your order. Unless agreed otherwise, the customer will always pick up all purchases directly from our studio. We will notify you immediately when your order arrives. If you would like the tile to be delivered to your home, KITCHEN TECHNOLOGY will do so for a fee.

Introduction:
All Kitchen countertops are customized to fit into the specific shape of your kitchen. That is why our quote always incluces the folliwng services:

  • Making a plywood template of your countertop after all cabinets are installed
  • Fabrication of the countertop at the plant
  • Delivery and installation of the countertop in your kitchen

The Process

Design: bring along floor plan drawing when you visit our showroom. This drawing should preferably be on a 1/2" scale (1/2" = 1 foot) with accurate dimensions. If you do not have a floor plan, (which usually happens when you only replace the countertop) then you need to schedule a time for our designer to come to your home to measure and create an accurate design. We charge $50 for this service.

Selection: visit our showroom to select a material for your new countertop. We carry a wide range of granite, marble, soapstone, Corian, Zodiaq, and other surfaces. For aesthetic reasons, we recommend you bring a sample of your cabinet finish or even a full cabinet door, as well as your floor and/or backsplash sample, if selected.

Review: after making your selection, our designer will review the floor plan with you and go over details such as your specific type of sink and faucet, desired countertop edge profile (style), backsplash, appliances, etc.

Quote: with all the information above, we will be able to provide you with a quote to order, fabricate, deliver, and install your countertop. We will e-mail, fax, or call you with our quote within five business days.
